Madrid, 2nd February 2021. Capital Energy, a Spanish energy enterprise incorporated in 2002 with the vocation of becoming the first vertically-integrated 100%-renewable energy firm on the Iberian Peninsula, continues to strengthen its human team. With the incorporation of Douglas Medrisch, who was the Head of Electricity and Gas Retail at Repsol from November 2018 to date, the enterprise completes the restructuring of its Business Directorate.
Medrisch, who had been the Head of Domestic Clients and SMEs at E.On for five years, and before that, at Viesgo, has also been the Head of Projects at McKinsey. An Economics Graduate from the Torcuato Di Tella University in Buenos Aires, he also obtained a Master’s in Finance from the same institution.
Douglas Medrisch will manage one of the four areas that, from now, will report directly to the CEO, Juan José Sánchez. Specifically, he will manage Business Operations. In turn, the Heads of Operations and Asset Management, Energy, Customers and New Energy Solutions for the end consumer will report to him.
The other business area that will report to Sánchez, Development of Assets and Infrastructure, remains under the management of Diego Fabeiro, who will also manage the Heads of Technical Services, New Energy Businesses, Project Management, Portfolio Management and Corporate Operations, as well as several regional directors.
On the other hand, two more directors will manage cross-cutting business support areas - Victor Gimeno, Head Digital Strategy and Sustainability, and Gregorio Mednik, Head of the CEO’s Office.
These changes to Capital Energy’s Business Directorate are in response to the need to adapt to the new challenges of the Company that, for the 2021 Financial Year, will be key in developing its strategic plan.
A portfolio of more than 35 GW on the Iberian Peninsula
Currently, Capital Energy has a portfolio of wind and photovoltaic projects totalling more than 35 gigawatts (GW) of power, of which approximately 7 GW already have network access grants.
Recently, due to the launch of its retail arm in the final quarter of 2020, Capital Energy attained its strategic aim of being present on the entire renewable energy value chain in 2020: from development, where, given its 20-year history, the Company has a consolidated position, to construction, production, storage, operation and supply.
The aim of the Company, which has grown from 30 employees to more than 350 in the last three years, distributed throughout 15 offices in Spain and Portugal, is to deliver to the end consumer the 100%-renewable energy that it is already produced in its own facilities.
